George’s Donuts & Merriment is more than a restaurant—it’s a revitalized community landmark built on legacy. Our client envisioned a space that honored family tradition while welcoming neighbors with a warm, modern design. What began as two aging 1930s retail suites was reimagined through a full seismic upgrade and comprehensive renovation. We unified the storefront, updated all systems to current codes, and introduced expansive openings to flood the space with natural light. The project blends architectural integrity with a playful spirit, and outdoor café seating and parklet benches—part of San Francisco’s SharedSpaces program—extend the experience beyond the walls, making George’s a true neighborhood gem.
